Op 1 jan 2021 opende Governor Andrew Cuomo de nieuwe Moynihan Train Hall, een uitbreiding van het huidige Pennsylvania Station. Onze vriend en gids in New York City Trey Gibbons ging er een kijkje nemen : I had the pleasure today of visiting Pennsylvania Station's newly-opened Moynihan Train Hall.It is stunning.
Beautiful, clean, and easy to navigate, it is essentially everything that Penn Station is NOT known for. A $1.6 billion project, completed in the midst of a pandemic, the train hall represents New York City's most ambitious infrastructure upgrade in decades. At the ribbon cutting ceremony, Governor Andrew Cuomo said, "We built this as a statement of who we are, and who we aspire to be. Is it grand? Yes. Is it bold? Yes, because that is the spirit of New York and that is the statement we want to make to our visitors, to our children and to future generations. As dark as 2020 has been, this new hall will bring the light, literally and figuratively, for everyone who visits this great city."
I'm as proud as ever to call New York City my home. The Moynihan Train Hall is a true jewel, one that the city has deserved for a long, long time.
